Margriet Probyn Counselling

Supporting you in your time of need

Our counselling sessions are all about you. Together we will explore your distressing thoughts and feelings, discover what is holding you back, and find a way for you to move forward at your own pace.

Counselling is an opportunity for you to talk through your difficulties in a safe environment and for me to listen to you. This is your time and you can bring to the session whatever is going on for you.

I believe that everyone has the potential to grow and develop, although sometimes challenging life experiences can seem to get in the way and stop us in our tracks. It's times like these that talking to someone who is not directly involved can be helpful and this is where counselling can play a supporting role.

The counselling journey

As a warm, caring and empathic counsellor I will focus on making sure that you feel comfortable to set the agenda of our conversations and are free to explore the things that are most important to you. Building and maintaining a trusting relationship is an essential part of the therapeutic journey and central to how we will work together through the various stages:

  • During our first introductory session we will get to know each other and begin to explore some of the things that are going on for you.

  • In following conversations we will deepen our mutual level of understanding of the issues and work towards creating acceptance of these.

  • As your confidence grows and you can see a way forward it is time for you to make your own way again.

Counselling is about providing a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental and confidential way.
