Margriet Probyn Counselling
Helping you become the person you want to be
Our counselling conversations are all about you. Together we will learn about who you are and the person you truly aspire to be, discover what's holding you back, and find a way for you to move forward at your own pace. Counselling is an opportunity for you to talk through your difficulties in a safe environment which helps you to find your own way forward.
I believe that everyone has the potential to grow and develop, although sometimes challenging life experiences can seem to get in the way and stop us in our tracks. It's times like these that we all need a little extra help and that's where counselling can play a beneficial role.
The counselling journey
As a warm, caring and empathic counsellor I will focus on making sure that you feel comfortable to set the agenda of our conversations and are free to explore the things that are of most importance to you. Building and maintaining a trusting relationship is an essential part of the therapeutic journey and central to how we will work together through the various stages:
- During our first introductory session we will get to know each other and begin to explore some of the things which are making you feel stuck.
- At this stage we can decide whether further counselling is an appropriate option and agree an initial number of follow-on sessions or choose an open-ended approach.
- In later conversations we will deepen our mutual level of understanding of the issues and work towards creating acceptance of these as the foundation for next steps.
- As your confidence grows and the way forward becomes clearer we can decide on the right moment for the counsellor to step back... and then you're making your own path again.
Counselling is about providing a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental and completely confidential way.
